Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate game-related communication with Nintendo.
  • Manage creative process in studio and coordinate with Nintendo and Senior Producer to manage all aspects of the creative design of the product.
  • Define and maintain product goals and timelines
  • Guide and manage creative direction of the studio throughout the production process.
  • Manage creative staff to successfully meet project objectives.
  • Successfully integrate Nintendo feedback into process while nurturing and educating staff into Nintendo/Japanese style of game development.
  • Work closely with Nintendo to conceive, develop and oversee implementation of game designs.
  • Oversee the implementation of established artistic direction into product art
  • Provide both creative design and art direction to subordinates and peers to ensure that the original game idea or game concept is consistent throughout the product cycle.
  • Establish and manage game play mechanics to meet the high expectations of Nintendo software products.
  • Manage various production personnel including game designers and artists.
  • Work in conjunction with Senior Producer to define production scheduling and will also be expected to act as project liaison with Nintendo.
  • Responsible for presentation of product and production plan, as necessary

Job Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of Nintendo product and an understanding of Nintendo development style.
  • Experience with Japanese game development methodologies, principals and environments.
  • Experience successfully leading large groups of development staff
  • Knowledge of all video game hardware and software, both past and present.
  • Solid experience with video game platforms and PCs.
  • Basic understanding of overall game development processes including art, animation, design, software engineering and programming required.
  • Strong proven leadership and organizational skills.
  • At least 7 years' game design related experience required.
  • Must have completed at least one production cycle leading to shipped where game directing was primary responsibility
  • Undergraduate degree in Art, Computer Science, Marketing, Entertainment, General Studies, or equivalent. Studies in music, art, films, television/broadcasting, and multimedia a plus
